Full-service fundraising companies

Why groups choose it

  • Flexible service levels range from online fundraising technology to staffed event support
  • Polished student fundraising tools include personal pages, online donations, and built-in prize tracking
  • Large national provider with decades of school fundraising experience

Tradeoffs to consider

  • Pricing can combine a platform fee, service percentage, and base fee depending on the service level
  • Donor's Choice shifts part of the platform fee to participating donors rather than eliminating the cost
  • Managed service must save enough volunteer work or generate enough additional fundraising to justify the higher fees

What to know about Boosterthon

You can choose how much help you want

Boosterthon ranges from MyBooster technology for schools running their own fundraiser to service levels with campaign guidance and Booster staff supporting the culminating event. The price changes substantially with the amount of service selected.

The technology is built for student fundraising

MyBooster gives students personal fundraising pages, collects online donations, tracks student progress, and includes prize-management tools. Boosterthon also supplies fundraising kits, student lanyards, incentives, and campaign materials for supported events.

Donor's Choice changes who pays

MyBooster's baseline platform fee is 15%. With Donor's Choice enabled, participating donors can cover part of that fee. Boosterthon currently says schools keep 95% of funds on average. The calculator keeps that public average separate from its owner-supplied Donor's Choice modeling assumption, and the amount donors cover varies by fundraiser.

Platform Only is not the same as basic payment processing

MyBooster includes student fundraising pages, campaign tools, reporting, and prize tracking in addition to collecting payments. If your group only needs online payment collection, compare its effective cost with ordinary nonprofit card processing before deciding whether those fundraising features justify the difference.

Student incentives are part of the model

Boosterthon uses prizes, participation incentives, classroom rewards, and schoolwide goals to build fundraising momentum. Schools should decide whether that approach fits their community and fundraising culture.

Your agreement determines the actual cost

Boosterthon publicly describes customized service levels rather than one universal managed-service price. Use your school's proposal when available, especially for base fees, service percentages, staffing, and event scope.

How much Boosterthon do you actually need?

Boosterthon can be anything from fundraising software to a substantially managed event. The right comparison depends on which problem your group is trying to solve.

If you already have volunteers who can organize and run the event, compare the cost of MyBooster or Support Service with lower-cost fundraising and payment tools.

If your organization does not have the people or time to run a major fundraiser, Shared Service may solve a different problem entirely: you are paying Boosterthon not just for technology, but for labor, experience, campaign structure, prizes, and event execution

The important question is not simply which service level raises the most money. It is whether the additional support produces enough extra proceeds or saves enough volunteer work to justify its additional cost.

Common questions

Boosterthon combines the MyBooster online fundraising platform with optional campaign and event support. Depending on the service level, schools can receive fundraising guidance, campaign materials, prizes and incentives, student fundraising tools, and Booster staff supporting the event.

MyBooster provides personal student fundraising pages, online donation collection, fundraising reporting, and built-in prize tracking. It can also be used by a school running its own fundraiser without purchasing Boosterthon’s highest level of event support.

This calculator compares Platform Only, Support Service, and Shared Service using pricing supplied directly to Big Nest. Boosterthon publicly describes customizable support levels, so your school’s proposal may use different names, prices, or service scope.

The baseline MyBooster platform fee is 15%. Donor’s Choice allows donors to cover part of that fee. Boosterthon currently says schools keep 95% of funds on average. Separately, the calculator’s default uses an owner-supplied Donor’s Choice assumption that about two-thirds of donations cover the platform fee, leaving the group with an effective platform cost of approximately 5%. The actual amount covered by donors is not known until fundraising is complete.

Donor’s Choice applies to the MyBooster platform fee. It does not remove separate base fees or service-level fees included in a managed Boosterthon agreement.

No. Boosterthon’s fees support more than card processing. Depending on the service level, they can cover fundraising technology, prizes, campaign materials, fundraising guidance, and event support. Schools that only need payment processing should compare those services and costs separately.

Boosterthon currently describes its Fun Run campaign as typically lasting about nine days, beginning with a kickoff and ending with the event while students collect donations and earn incentives in between.

Yes. Boosterthon provides student prizes and incentives and includes prize-management tools in its online fundraising platform. Students can earn rewards for donations or sharing their fundraising pages, and classes or the whole school can also work toward incentives.

No. The calculator applies the selected financial terms but does not assign a dollar value to campaign guidance, prizes, staffing, event management, or volunteer time saved. Those benefits should be evaluated separately.

Use your proposal when you have one. The managed-service pricing modeled here was supplied directly to Big Nest and is useful for exploring the economics, but Boosterthon publicly describes its pricing and service levels as customizable.
