Customer story · Sacajawea PTG
A community got its students the drums they had been waiting for.
A Big Nest fundraiser helped an established middle school PTG turn a three-year district timeline into new drums for that spring’s parade.
An established group, not a group in trouble
This PTG used Big Nest to Surface a need in the Community
Sacajawea PTG had served its middle school community for decades. Its fall fundraiser was dependable enough to set the annual budget around it, and the group was already active in the school.
It saw improvements as soon as it started using Big Nest.
Soon teachers began to see the PTG as more than a source of routine support. They saw a community partner that could help solve problems.
A need worth acting on
The band teacher made a request that could not wait.
The school’s drumline equipment was 50 years old. The drums desparetly needed to be replaced. It was a heavy ask: $22,5000. THe band teacher estimated the district would require 3 years to full fund the project.
Sacajawea PTG chose to help. The group used Big Nest to explain the need to families and give the community an easy way to contribute.
$7,000
raised for the drumline project
Months
instead of a three-year wait
The fundraiser gave the principal a reason to pursue matching funds. With the project’s cost dramatically lower, the district was able to move it forward.
What changed
The students had their drums in time for the spring parade.
The point was not simply a successful fundraiser. A school community saw a need, decided the students deserved better, and made it happen that year.
What this story proves
When a community can see the need and act, students feel the difference.
Big Nest did not create Sacajawea’s care for its students. It gave the PTG a practical way to turn that care into a fundraiser the community could support.
